Start with why this page opens on the menu instead of a picture of the dining room. Pull up Vault 244 on Google Maps on your phone and tap the Menu button. You'll get a page that says Nothing Found.
Your menu isn't broken. It's alive at vault244.com/menu, it loads fine, the prices are on it. What Google is still holding is the address of a PDF that stopped existing when your site got rebuilt. Nobody did anything wrong. Whoever moved you onto the new site had no way to reach into Google and change that field, so it's been quietly pointing at nothing ever since.
A menu that lives as text on the page can't do that to you. There's no file to go missing, no download, no pinching and zooming in a car on 1st Avenue at five o'clock. That's the whole reason this page is built the way it is.
Now the honest part about what's above. Six dishes are on this page with prices, and those six are the ones I read off your own menu on August 1 and can stand behind. Your salads, your drinks and your happy hour are blank because I did not read them line by line, and I'm not going to invent a dish or a price on a page with your name on it. Hand me the current menu and all of it goes in inside a day.
The date stays on the page. Your own menu says it changes seasonally, so a menu with no date on it is a promise you can't keep. When you change it, the date changes with it, and anybody reading knows exactly how fresh it is.
The photo frame stays empty until you say otherwise. You have a Gallery page and I didn't take one image off it. Whatever's on there is yours or your photographer's. There are hundreds of pictures of your food on review sites too, and every one of those belongs to the customer who shot it, not to you and not to me.
Three places publish your hours right now. Two of them are yours. No two of them agree, so this page doesn't pick one.
As published on your Google listing
As published in your website footer
As published on your contact page
I'm not showing you three schedules to be clever. I'm showing them because I don't know which one is right and you do.
Google says you serve until 11 on Friday and Saturday. Your own footer says 10 on both nights. And your contact page runs Tuesday through Saturday with no Monday on it at all, while the footer about ten lines below it on that same page says you're open Monday.
Hours are the one thing on a website that physically sends somebody to a locked door, or costs you an hour of a Friday you were actually open for. So this page will not print a schedule until you tell me which set is yours. Say the word and these three boxes collapse into one, and I go make the other two match it.
One more, same family. Your contact page gives the address as 244 1st Ave Southwest and the footer directly under it says 244 1st Ave West. Google has West, and so does your footer, so West is what I've used everywhere on this page. Two addresses on one screen is the kind of thing a person notices and can't unnotice.
The J.W. Cusick & Company Bank was established in 1892, with John W. Cusick as President and Charles H, Edward D and Harry B Cusick beside him.
The building that houses Vault 244 went up in 1895. We're a relaxed dining experience where you can enjoy an artfully crafted cocktail along with your meal, cooked from local and sustainable ingredients, with daily and weekend specials.
That paragraph is yours, word for word off your own site, and it's the best writing on any restaurant website I've read in this town. A bank from 1892, a building from 1895, and four Cusicks by name. Nobody can copy that. It is sitting further down your site than it deserves.
I put it below the menu anyway, because the person who just tapped a Menu button wants food first and history second. It earns its place on the way out, not on the way in.
We do take reservations. Booking runs through our own contact page.
Reserve a table on vault244.com
I deliberately did not build a booking form here. You already have a Reserve A Table link and I never followed it, so I don't know what system is behind it. Building a booking flow against something I haven't read is how people end up with two calendars and a table given away twice. This page sends people to yours instead.
Worth knowing, and it isn't on the page: your Google listing has two links on it, your website and that dead Menu one. There's no reservation link on it at all, and reservations are a field Google will happily give a restaurant. Something to talk about after the Menu button is fixed.
And one thing I left off on purpose. Your rating is 4.4 across 820 reviews. It's real and I verified it, and I still didn't put it on the page, because a number on your own website is you telling people what to think. Eight hundred and twenty people have already told them. What I'd rather do is answer those reviews.
